OKOLONA – Linda Claunch Watson, 65, died Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born in Tupelo on Oct. 3, 1947, to Q.R. Claunch and Dorothy Bryant Claunch.
A lifelong resident of North Mississippi, she received her master’s degree from Mississippi State University. She was a retired educator, teaching the last 15 years of her career at Mooreville Elementary School. She was a member of the Okolona Lanier Club and an active member of Okolona First United Methodist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother (Grammy) and sister.
A celebration of life service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Okolona First United Methodist Church with the Rev. H.B. Miller officiating. Private burial will follow in Oddfellows Cemetery. The First Methodist Church Chimes, which she worked to have installed in the Sanctuary, will play on the day of the service. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today and from 1 p.m. to service time Friday at the church. Holland Funeral Directors Okolona Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Watson of Okolona; mother, Dorothy B. Claunch of Okolona; one son, Clay Crabb (Amy) of Tupelo; daughter, Stacy Crabb Deas (Lawrence Deas) of Tupelo; one sister, Lydia C. Lauderdale (Jim Bert Lauderdale) of Shannon; four grandchildren, William Deas, Mason Deas, Sam Crabb and Ellie Crabb; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father and her brother, Quenton Rhodes Claunch Jr.
Pallbearers will be Stewart Lauderdale, Jim Bert Lauderdale, Greg Hanna, Bill Hanna, Marty Watson, Jeff Watson and Richie Watson.
