Charles Cooner

BRUCE – Charles Edward Cooner, 87, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at State Veterans Home in Oxford. He was a World War II Veteran, retired petroleum land manager, member of V.F.W. and member of the American Legion. He was a member of First Baptist Church Bruce.

Service is at 2 p.m. Monday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Bro. Darrell Logan officiating and assisted by Dr. Daniel Hathorne. Interment is at Bruce Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Cuvis Collins Cooner of Bruce; daughter, Cathy Stevens “Britt” of Philadelphia; son-in-law, Hugh Mitchell Cannon of Bruce; two grandsons, Jeremy Turner (Tara) of Water Valley and Cody Stevens of Philadelphia; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Steven) Cannon Curtis of Canton; four great-grandchildren, Cannon and Spencer Curtis, Austin and Alley Turner; and one sister, Jessie Mae Cooner of Water Valley.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Claude and Velma Clark Cooner; son, Bobby Johnson; daughter, Mary Ann Cannon; and brother, Bill Cooner.

Pallbearers are Robert Edward Oakly, Jim Beckett, Jerry Beckett, Kennth Kellums, George Liles and Hugh Mitchell Cannon.

Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
