BRUCE – Ruby Ward Shelton, 86, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2013, at Calhoun Health Services Nursing Home in Calhoun City. She was born Oct. 28, 1926, in Pittsboro. She was a retired house parent for Baptist Children’s Village. She was a member of Bruce First Baptist Church.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Bruce with Dr. Daniel Hathorne officiating. Burial will be in Bruce Cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Jan (Rose Mary) Shelton of Bruce; one sister, Quida Faye Bailey of Clinton; three brothers, Leanard (Rubydean) Ward of Laurel, Robert “Bob” (Joyce) Ward of Columbus and Jerry (Mary Sue) Ward of Cherokee Village, Ark.; four grandchildren, Christopher Heath (Sandi) Shelton of Bruce, Steven Jan Shelton of Bruce, Ryan Matthew (Amber) Shelton of Pascagoula and Jon Shelton Rutland of Pascagoula; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eulus C. Ward and Zeffie Simpson Ward; her husband, Tillman Shelton; a daughter, Joan Shelton Rutland; two sisters, Vadie Cox and Minnie Raye Wooten; ghree brothers, Lester Ward, Lawrence Ward and Truman Ward.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Cole, Robert Edward Oakley, Jerry Tutor, John Wooten, Pete Ward and Richard Ward.
Visitation will be from 5 until 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
