Elizabeth McPherson

OKOLONA – Minister Elizabeth Gates “Baby Sis” McPherson, 65, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center. She was born Nov. 3, 1947, to Lillie Mae Gates and the late Willie Cunningham. She received her education from the Fannie Carter High School. She was a dietitian at the North Mississippi Medical Center for more than 30 years. She was a minister, serving in various ministries.

Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20 at Clarks Chapel M.B. Church with the Rev. Larry Shannon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Williams Memorial of Okolona is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include her mother, Lillie Mae Gates of Okolona; two sons, Charles Cunningham (Martha) and Robert McPherson; six sisters, Ruthie Moore, Alice McPherson (Lonzo), of Okolona, Lois McIntosh of Shannon, Mary Gates, Angeline Ivy and Gail Gates, all of Houston; four brothers, Lester Gates (Martha), Lee Earl Gates, Henry Gates (Linda), all of Houston, and Mel Cunningham (Norma ; one uncle, Jimmie Lee White of Okolona; eight grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday with a wake from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
