OKOLONA – Mittie Margaret Ballard, 69, died Saturday, Jan.12, 2013, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. She was born March 7, 1943, in Memphis to James Springer Sr., and Dorothy Mae Pollock Springer.
After attending high school and business school, Margaret worked in apartment maintenance. She also worked many years as an office clerk for an insurance company in Memphis until 1989 when she became the primary caregiver for her parents. She enjoyed decorating, raising Shelty dogs and caring for her family. She was a Methodist.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with Rev. Colby Cuevas officiating. Private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park. Holland Funeral Directors of Tupelo is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband of 21 years, James Ballard, whom she married in September of 1991; her son, William Saums of Indianapolis, Ind.; two step-daughters, Barbara Benson (Randy) of Brewer and Debbie Bowen (Leslie) of Okolona; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
