TUPELO – Eugene Robert Brassfield, 89, died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Eupora. He was born Sept. 13, 1923, to Robert Vernon Cullins and Linda Blanche Mashburn Brassfield.
He graduated from Lawhon High School and then went on to attend the University of Mississippi. He enjoyed fishing and playing dominoes. He attended the First Baptist Church of Mathiston.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with Bro. Wade Stevens officiating. Burial will be in Ellistown Cemetery. Survivors include seven children, Peggy Clark of Mathiston, Louise Collins of Houlka, Linda Diane Soffell of Trevor, Wis., Tim Jones of Tupelo, Robert Brassfield of Tupelo, Dewayne Brassfield of Tupelo and Tammy Crib of New Albany; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Helen Jones Brassfield.
