Fill the truck for children

Chickasaw JournalThe Houston Salvation Army, Walmart 411 and the Houston Solar Race team are partnering to help bring Christmas cheer to local children.

Walmart will host a “Fill the Truck” toy drive Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. to help provide new toys and coats for children in need this holiday season.

The event is open to the public and anyone who would like to donate new toys and coats is welcome to participate. Walmart shoppers will receive a list of suggested gifts as they enter the store and may help fill the collection bin. The contents of the bin will be donated to the Salvation Army and will be distributed through the Angel Tree program which is expected to provide Christmas gifts to more than 150 children.

Walmart is also a partner in the Kettle campaign that raises money to help the less fortunate all year round. This year, the Houston Solar Race team will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the event to have pictures taken with the public. The $5 picture fee will be donated to the Kettle campaign.
